Numerical Study of the Performance Loss of A Centrifugal Pump Carrying Emulsion

The performance and hydrodynamic behavior of centrifugal pumps when handling two-phase liquid-liquid flow emulsion remain relatively unexplored, although they are fundamental importance in optimizing the operating conditions these pumps. Hence, this study aims at investigating degradation a pump under by combined means analytical computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models. approach is based on internal energy loss equations while CFD models as continuous homogeneous single-phase exhibiting shear thinning behavior. results give good insight into such system, especially best efficiency point (BEP).
